Former Hometown Hoop Heroes To Face Off In Alumni Games At CEO Event In Anna

On Sunday, Feb. 10, Union County CEO will be hosting a 3v3 basketball tournament and alumni games at Anna Junior High School in Anna. 

The 3v3 play will begin at 1 p.m. Dongola vs. Shawnee will be played at 5 p.m., with A-J vs. Cobden to follow at 7 p.m.

The Anna Little Indians will provide entertainment at halftime of the second game. 

Spectator entry is $5 for the entire day. Re-entry will be allowed. Signs will be up to direct you to the entry doors.

This will be the first time ever that all of these names will be seen on one court. 

Current rosters for each school are as follows:

A-J: Brad Dodd, Jake and Josh Alley, Rick Tweedy, Brady Wright, Kyle Schuster, Jordan Adams, Justin Richardson, Jacob Hileman, Travis Baker, Jeremy Moss, Josh Stegle, Ben McFarland, Dale Pender, Noah Fuller.

Kyle Schuster, who is in the accompanying picture, said: “I think anytime you can partner local communities while involving past and present members it’s a good thing. Not only does it show a sense of pride but it also shows a lot of promise for our future. Everyone involved with putting this together did an excellent job, especially the kids of the Union County CEO program.”

Cobden: Chris Duckworth, Alex Uribe, Josh Juarez, Austin Lewey, Richard Howell, Bradley Nance, Shawn Hanes.

Dongola: Jordan Rhymer, Zane Dismore, Caleb Theis, Dalen Treat, Tyler Eddleman, Brock Patterson, Bradley Jerolds, Jay Kaufman, Justin Snell, Chris Cohen, Kevin Graves, Kyle Cox.

Shawnee: Kannen Wills, Dawson Johnson, Brady Reynolds.

The Shawnee vs. Dongola game will feature a face off of the number 1 all time points scorers at each school: Brady Reynolds of Shawnee and Kyle Cox of Dongola.

A full concession stand will be available at the event, including grilled pork chops, hamburgers, and hot dogs all provided by Save-a-Lot and Bunny Bread.  

First Class Cookies has also provided special themed Hometown Hoops cookies. Popcorn, candy, soda and Gatorade will all be available to purchase as well. 

CEO stands for “Creating Entrepreneurial Opportunities.”

Each day from 7:30 a.m. to 9 a.m. the students visit a different local business and hear the owners’ story, and how they have found success. 

Funds raised from Hometown Hoops will be used as startup money for the students’ personal businesses.
