The Hillsboro Chamber of Commerce is partnering with the City of Hillsboro, the Montgomery County Economic Development Commission, Imagine Hillsboro and the Montgomery County CEO program to host its third annual State of Hillsboro Breakfast on Friday, March 23, at the Hillsboro Moose Lodge.
Aspiring entrepreneurs put their skills to the test Thursday with managing their first event to showcase area eateries and give people a taste of the Sauk Valley.
Laughs aplenty from Dr. Rich Bailey and reminiscences from Cordia Harrington helped illustrate how two people with roots in the Effingham community have achieved great success. Their inference was that the path to success is still open to others who might want to take it, and that was the theme of the 2018 Effingham County CEO Experience.
More than 14 restaurants have signed up to participate in the first “Taste of Sauk Valley,” a fundraiser for the Whiteside Area Career Center’s Creating Entrepreneurial Opportunities class.
The CEO program, now in its 10th year and expanding across the U.S., is solely funded by business investors who mentor and support young people wanting to start their own businesses. A total of 282 high schoolers have gone through the program to date.
