Christian Co. CEO Program Introduces Four New Businesses

CHRISTIAN COUNTY – The Christian County Creating Entrepreneurial Opportunities (CEO) program is introducing four of the eight new businesses from its Class of 2016.

This program seeks to prepare youth to be “responsible, enterprising individuals who become entrepreneurs or entrepreneurial thinkers and contribute to economic development and sustainable communities.” While it is a much like an academic course, students are also given real life learning experiences by being given the opportunity to take risks, manage the results and learn from their outcomes.

These four businesses are each run by high school students taking part in the CEO program.

The first business is run by Myah Herbord, a senior at Pana High School. Herbord manages MH Photography. She began taking professional photos two years ago and grew it into a business through the program.

Ben Robinson, a senior at Taylorville High School, opened Ben’s Tinkering through CEO. His business provides 3D printing services, hydrographics for small items and repurposed-custom items. Robinson also plans to begin selling cell phone accessories made from a 3D printer soon.

Enchanted Moments is the third business, created by Sophie Tremblay, a senior at Taylorville High School. The business offers a variety of bath essentials, ranging from bath bombs to face masks.

Kyle Kuntzman owns the fourth business Just Jerseys. Kuntzman is also a senior at Taylorville High School. His business provides NFL, MLB and NBA jerseys at affordable prices. He reports that he has seen strong sales in his first couple of weeks.

The Christian County CEO will be hosting a trade show on Thursday, May 19 to give the new business owners public exposure. It will be free and open to the public. The show will run from 6 to 7:30 PM at Lincoln Land Community College – Taylorville.
