Christian County CEO Program donates to Relay for Life

CHRISTIAN COUNTY – The Christian County Creating Entrepreneurial Opportunities (CEO) Class of 2016 donated hundreds of dollars to the Christian County Relay for Life.

WAND News previously reported that the program had received a donation from The Hopper Foundation. The program is currently working to give back to the community.

On January 30, the Class helped raise funds for the Christian County Relay for Life through the CEO for Life Dinner. Fifteen percent of the dinner proceeds were donated to Relay for Life, and that donation totaled at $841.30.

The CEO program is presented as a different take on education by teaching students about entrepreneurship. CEO students visit local businesses to gain first-person experience in the world of business. They also hear lectures from well-known speakers in the professional world.

Officials say the program is a “standard for entrepreneurship education in the United States” and that their students often describe the program as a “journey.”

Students are now working on managing their own business for their Trade Show on Thursday, May 19 from 6 to 7:30 PM at Lincoln Land Community College in Taylorville.

Applications are available now for the 2016 – 2017 class. Those interested can get an application from a high school counselor or the CEO website. Christian County’s application deadline is March 1, 2016, and more counties participating in the program can be found on their main website.

Those interested in becoming an investor, hosting the class in a visit to their business or serving as a guest speaker can contact Dee Krueger at 217-561-f0578 or Mary Renner at 217-638-5032.
